The Aspen Times reports Aspen Skiing Co. will continue to groom trails through the spring season for uphill skiers at Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Tiehack, and Snowmass.

Skico kept grooming a few trails at each ski area after the March 15th mandated closures to accommodate uphillers. Conditions can deteriorate quickly on ungroomed slopes because of the freeze-and-thaw cycle, so grooming can extend the season significantly. Post-season grooming operations will be limited and come with a stern warning from Skico senior vice president of mountain operations, Katie Ertl:

“We will keep uphilling accessible as long as it is safely possible. Despite some limited grooming, please continue to treat the mountains like you would the backcountry.
