1-2 Feet of SNOW Just Fell On Hawaii

A winter storm system that recently hit Hawaii dropped as much as 2 feet of snow on a volcano peak located on the Big Island. Snowdrifts were recorded as deep as 4 feet in spots. The access road on the volcano was closed on Friday morning as a result of the snowstorm.

The winter storm raged for a total of 3 days until it passed on Monday, January 12th.

It is not unusual for the summits on the Big Island to get snowfall during the winter months. Below is a video from 2017 of some snowboard action on Mauna Kea.
