Climber Bryan Mestre has posted a photo and video of a glacial tarn above 3,400 meters on the highest point in western Europe, Mont Blanc. Only 10 days of extreme heat were enough to collapse, melt and form a lake at the base of the Dent du Géant and the Aiguilles Marbrées
The aquamarine pond was formed due to the heat wave that hit Europe in late June. During the heatwave temps hit 114 degrees in France and to nearly 50 degrees on Mont Blanc.
The heat melted the snow and ice forming a aquamarine pond about 35 feet by 100 feet.
To all the people claiming it was a fake or a photoshopped picture, a false flag or whatever…It’s very real, the glacier is in terrible shape and liquid water only accelerates the melting process… There’s now a lake at the base of Dent du Géant and Aiguilles Marbrées….Keep sharing! – Bryan Mestre
