Poor weather had limited efforts to find the men after the climbers were reported missing. Park officials searched for them via air and “observed signs of multiple avalanches and debris containing climbing equipment.”
“We would also like to acknowledge the impact that this has had on the tight‐knit, local and international climbing communities. Our thoughts are with families, friends and all those who have been affected by this tragic incident,” reads a statement from Parks Canada.
It is believed that the slide that took their lives was a size 3 avalanche.
