The largest expansion of public land in a generation is now before congress and everybody in Colorado should be paying attention. The 400,000 acres that stand to be protected by The Colorado Outdoor and Recreation Act are obviously environmentally significant but as San Juan County Commissioner Scott Fetchenhier points out in an interview with The Journal the bill would also have a massive economic impact:

“Just think about the 82 million visitors who come to Colorado to visit these wild places, to be able to engage in outdoor recreation. There’s an economic case to be made to continue to protect these beautiful, wild places.”
