Gondolas, trains, tolling…everything is on the table to address the crushing traffic congestion in Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons. Utah officials are poised to take action as early as this summer after a 30 year study.

OPTIONS INCLUDE:

-Adding another lane up Little Cottonwood Canyon

-More reliable avalanche control

-Train alignments

-Gondolas

-Controversial tolling

UDOT estimates 2.1 million visitors enjoy Little Cottonwood Canyon per year and as we know during good ski weekends combined with heavy snow and slides traffic can quickly turn  into a virtual parking lot. Solutions are on the way. Fingers crossed they work.

If you want to have your voice heard directly by UDOT go to an open house they are hosting on April 9 at Cottonwood Heights City Hall from 4-8 p.m. The public is encouraged to review and comment on the proposed solution during that time. Official public comments can be emailed to littlecottonwoodeis@utah.gov or online at www.udot.utah.gov/littlecottonwoodeis.
