Daily Hive reports the proposed resort just released a new 168 page draft of their Updated Master Plan (including the renderings pictured) to address many of the sweeping environmental approval conditions they need to satisfy, entering a new round of public consultation.
The first phase of construction would create a mid-sized mountain resort with 610 acres of terrain service by 8 chairlifts. The resort capacity will be about 4,000 guests, supported by nearly 1,000 staff and 5,000 beds.
If they did enter the 4th phase and the would still be much smaller than Whistler Blackcomb (North America’s largest resort @ 8,171 acres). They want to find a middle market of skiers who will pay a bit more what you might expect at mom and pop mountain but not as much as you would be spending at Whistler:
“The resort will in all cases be in between the North Shore areas and Whistler. It will be bigger in size than the North Shore but smaller than Whistler, more expensive than the local hills but much less than Whistler, and offer more terrain than the North Shore but less than Whistler.” -Garibaldi at Squamish’s VP for Planning Rod MacLeod
