According to Vermont State Police a 68 year old skier from West Montreal, Canada died after hitting a tree at Jay Peak Ski Resort in Northern Vermont early Sunday afternoon.

NECN reports State Police got the call about a skier seriously injured at Jay around 12:45pm. Bruce Charron reportedly lost a ski prior to striking trees along the edge of the trail. Jay Peak Ski Patrol was on scene immediately but despite their response time Charron was pronounced dead at the resort.

Police are investigating the incident and ask any witnesses or anyone with additional information to call the Derby barracks at (802) 334-8881.
