Gigi Wu, a 36-year-old Taiwanese woman known as the “Bikini Hiker”, has passed away. It’s being reported that Wu fell 65-feet into a ravine while hiking the Batongguan Historic Trail in Yushan National Park in Taiwan. Wu survived the fall but was trapped at the bottom of the gorge. It is believed that she died of hypothermia as she was waiting to get rescued.

Wu’s body was located 43 hours after her initial fall on Monday January 21.

Wu had become famous for posting photos of herself mountain climbing in nothing but boots and a bikini. At the time of her death she had over 14,000 followers. Her last photo on top of a mountain was posted on January 9 of this year.

A recent study found that there has been over 259 “selficide” deaths since from October 2011 to November 2017.
