A teacher whom led students into an off-piste area of Les Deux Alpes and subsequently triggered a deadly avalanche is blaming his decision-making on an anti-depressant medication.

According to The Times, 49 year-old Michel Arquillière is claiming his medication prevented him from properly accounting for avalanche danger at the time of the incident. Two 16 year-old students of Arquillière were killed in the slide along with a Ukranian national who was not a part of their group.

Although severely injured in the slide, authorities charged Arquillière with manslaughter as he lay in the hospital bed. He was previously sentenced to two years behind bars but that sentence has since been suspended.
