The Canadian Rockies are waking up to a winter day in September this morning as 6″ fell at high elevations in portions of Jasper and Banff National Parks just last night.

The storm came in cold with much of the snow falling in the early morning hours, which in turn allowed for snow to accumulate almost all the way to the valley floor. Sunshine Village and Marmot Basin seem to have won the lion’s share as far as ski areas are concerned.

“It’s starting to look very white around here, and we’re excited for this trend to continue. Looking forward to skiing/riding the first powder of the season on our projected opening date, November 9th.”Marmot Basin conditions report

According to Snow-Forecast, more snow is on the way for the Canadian Rockies!
