4 Boy Scouts Rescued From Summit Of Mt Baker [Video]

A group of two scouts and their two leaders from Seattle are recovering from serious hypothermia after spending Sunday night stranded near the summit of Washington’s Mount Baker (*not the ski area).

KOMO News is reporting that the group became separated from others in their expedition team during a summit bid of Mt Baker’s north face. Ultimately, they became disoriented when the weather deteriorated. When they realized a retreat down the mountain was no longer in the cards, they dug a hole and took shelter from the bitter cold near the summit plateau.

The rescue was executed promptly on Monday after a helicopter spotted the group on the summit. They are currently recovering at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center.
