Andy Wirth To Retire As President Of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows

The president and chief operating officer at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, Andy Wirth is stepping away from a career spent managing ski resorts.

Wirth, a 54 year-old will spend his retirement directing his energy and focus on family and charitable endeavours reports The Reno Gazette Journal. He will be replaced by Alterra’s general counsel member, Ron Cohen.

“My retirement will allow me to not only spend more time with my family, but focus on some of my passions, including the active support of wounded warriors and environmental causes.” – Andy Wirth

A controversial figure in the North Lake Tahoe community, Wirth advocated for expansive developments at Squaw Valley that continue to rub some locals the wrong way.

Before spending 8 years as the COO and President of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, he helped run Steamboat Resort in northern Colorado.
