Upon finishing third in the GS at Ofterschwang, Germany, Mikaela Shiffrin grabbed her second consecutive overall FIS world cup title in triumphant form.

The Vail skier won the crown by a mile, currently besting #2 Wendy Holdener by a whopping 603 points. Unless Shiffrin really blows it in the slalom (finishing 11th or worse in Ofterschwang), she’ll also win the Slalom overall title tomorrow.
“After last year when I won the overall, some people were saying it was sort of fake ‘because the other girls weren’t there and there was nobody to challenge her.’ So to have the overall this year locked in already before we go to (World Cup) Finals, it feels like a confirmation for me.”
Shiffrin just came off a somewhat spectacular performance at the Pyeonchang Winter Olympics, winning a silver and gold. She is currently sitting at 41 FIS world cup wins.
