We are all well acquainted with the avalanche dogs of our nations ski resorts but we might not know about another category of the canine workforce, the aviation bird dog. Meet Piper, the border collie that protects planes against bird strikes at Cherry Capital Airport up in Traverse City, Michigan. Piper and his handler Brain Edwards work in tandem to scare away geese, ducks and gulls from the airport’s runway keeping it clear for incoming and outgoing aircraft and I might add, do so looking cooler than I ever will in ski goggles.  Tag a friend with a border collie….I’m positive this will get a smile.
