“From sublime never-been-done lines on the slopes of an active volcano, to the shock of a 20m crash 700km away from help, Xavier De Le Rue’s DIY Kuril Islands expedition has been one to remember.”

Anytime you take a digger to the dome from over 65 feet its a serious situation, but when you compound it by being on a middle of nowhere frozen island with a sailboat as your ambulance it’s downright scary.

I watched that crash several times over and I can’t tell you how lucky freeskier Adrien Coirier was to walk away just a bloody face and a banged up knee after catching an edge and catapulting himself off a cliff.  He flew over 65 feet and almost hit a rock. Good lord that was scary.
