After a couple weeks of natural snowfall and productive snowmaking temperatures, Arapahoe Basin will be the first ski area in Colorado to open its slopes to the public.
A-Basin beat out its annual rival Loveland Ski Area as the first to open for the second year in a row. In 2015, Loveland and A-Basin tied in the #RaceToOpen when they both opened on Thursday, October 29th.
“It’s exciting to kick off the ski season earlier than usual, and welcome winter back to Colorado.” Alan Henceroth, COO A-Basin
To start its ski season, Arapahoe Basin will host skiing and riding on Black Mountain Express as well as its beginner area, Molly Hogan. High Noon and Sundance will be heavily trafficked so be careful out there– especially around the side-hits that will undoubtebly cause some close calls.
*Other than that, enjoy the White Ribbon Of Death while you can.
