The Colorado ranch with 14’er Culebra Peak has sold to a reported ‘conservationist’ for $105 million reports The Denver Post.

The ranch made headlines earlier this summer and reignited an old dialogue about whether or not 14’ers should or should not be privately owned. In the past, owners permitted public access to the peak for a price. After signing a waiver, climbing permits for Culebra Peak (14,053) would go for $150 per person.

It’s not currently clear whether the new owner will permit climbing on the 14’er located in the Sangre de Cristo range in the future but some hints from the listing broker are giving hikers an optimistic outlook.

He called the new owner “ideal” and a “true conservationist” who will make certain “this property remains a reflection of our state’s beautiful landscapes, diverse wildlife and heritage for decades to come.”
