Nice little reminder from these fine gentlemen from the Weber State Outdoor Program to do a systems check of your avalanche beacons every time you start a journey into the backcountry.  Really appreciate Weber State and all other universities that offer this kind of education to their students. This should be made a priority and fully supported by academic institutions with a skiing populous.

If you are lucky enough to go to Weber, there is a AIARE Level I class that begins tomorrow. Find complete information HERE:

“This is an American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Level I course entitled “Decision Making in Avalanche Terrain”. The Course will be taught over 3 days. A class room session will be held on December 16, 2016 at Weber State University. Field sessions will be held December 17-18 In the Ogden area backcountry . Transportation will be provided. Participants will need to provide there own touring equipment ie: AT, Tele, or Splitboard (No snow shoes allowed on the course). Beacons, Probes, and Shovels available if you do not have them.”
