A fire at Boyne Highlands near Traverse City, Michigan has investigators looking into a series of seriously nefarious actions that left one 23 year-old male in critical condition.

Revealed in an article published by The Detroit Free Press yesterday, a dispatcher indicated that someone may have started the fire in a room before running away with the fire extinguishers from the lodge. No arrests have been made as of yet.

In the meantime, the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office along with the Harbor Springs Fire Department and Michigan State Police Fire Marshal Division are looking into possible causes and possible suspects. The fire itself is reported to have started somewhere on the third floor of the lodge at roughly 1:34am. Ultimately that fire would injure 12 people and damage 40% of the existing lodge. Of those 12 people, David Chauvette remains in critical condition. Chauvette’s girlfriend took to Facebook to express her support saying, “Keep fighting babe. You can do this. Best 10 months of my life have been with you. Keep pushing through.”

*Our thoughts and prayers are with David’s friends and family at this trying time.
