All you Beehive State skiers and snowboarders should be feeling pretty good about current conditions in the Wasatch with portions of the range receiving 54 inches of the white stuff in the past 48 hours.

Snowfall totals met or exceeded expectations for virtually all areas. The biggest winner seems to be Eagle Point, which added another 24″ since yesterday morning, to bring their 3-day total to 58″ of snow. The Cottonwood did quite well for themselves. LCC resorts reporting 20-22″ since yesterday. Their totals for the period now in the 40-42″ range. BCC got another 12″ at Brighton for totals in the 28-32″ range. Powder Mountain reporting another 15″ since yesterday, totals of >27″. Snowbasin not reporting, but based on webcam images, I’d say 2 feet up top is likely. Park City and Deer Valley were in the 20-25″ range for storm totals. Sundance reported another 10″ to push its totals to over 2 feet. Beaver and Brian Head fell a bit short, but still picked up over a foot.
Overall, 20-30″ for most major Utah resorts with higher amounts in the Cottonwoods and Eagle Point. Not bad! Once all the snotel sites have updated, I will take a look at how this affected our snowpack tomorrow. Resorts should have no problem opening and/or opening new terrain this weekend.
We have a break in the action today and tomorrow. On Thursday, a weak system is going to drop into the region. Not much moisture, and perhaps not even a direct hit. Right now, I’d guess that 1-3″ is likely for the mountains, perhaps slightly higher amounts in the Cottonwoods if we are lucky.
The weekend should be mostly sunny and dry. A good opportunity for resorts to get a lot of work done for opening terrain.
Our next storm is timing for Monday of next week (Dec 5). Models still showing a lot of disagreement, as one would expect this far out. Anywhere for hardly any snow at all to a decent storm. We’ll just have to wait and see how it evolves.
