If there were any questions about the public’s interest in Amtrak’s newly reopened route from Denver to Winter Park, Colorado, they were answered on the first day tickets were available for purchase. The Denver Post reports that 3,300 tickers were sold in the first 24 hours of availability.

The 500 passenger roundtrip train will run on 26 select days between January 7th and March 26th 2016. That amounts to 26,000 one way tickets, so they still have a long way to go before they sell out completely but 3,300 on the first day is an impressive start.

Early bird prices were $39 for a one way ticket and will increase to $49 and $59 as ticket demand increases. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari encourages those interested in buying tickets to do so far in advance to secure the cheapest prices.  Group sales have emerged as a popular option with some groups asking to secure entire cars.

Can you imagine how fun that would be to roll up to Winter Park with a train car full of buddies on a powder day? Great to see the Ski Train back on line and prospering!
