RIGHT NOW, THE BRUNT OF THE WINTER WEATHER IS FORECAST TO OCCUR THURSDAY AFTERNOON INTO THURSDAY EVENING. MAIN UPPER JET REACHES THE NORTHERN SIERRA LATE WED-WED NIGHT AND WORKS SOUTHWARD ALONG THE SIERRA THURSDAY, AS UPPER TROUGH SWINGS INLAND ALONG THE WEST COAST. RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW MAY REACH THE SIERRA AS EARLY AS THURSDAY MORNING, ALTHOUGH LOW-MID LEVEL FLOW WILL TURN SOUTHERLY AND KEEP PRECIPITATION CLOSE TO THE CREST THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON. STRONG GUSTY WINDS LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND THURSDAY WILL PRECEDE THE PRECIPITATION. OVERALL CONFIDENCE IN A STORM IS HIGH BUT ONLY MEDIUM WITH REGARD TO TIMING AND DETAILS.
