A backcountry skier is luck to be alive after an avalanche swept him over a 75 foot waterfall on Buffalo Mountain in Summit County, CO this weekend. The skier miraculously suffered only a broken knee.

Late season snowfall mixed with high temperatures caused well over 260 avalanches in Colorado during the month of May. Official expect to see high avalanche danger well into June.
