The race to be the first ski resort to open in the United States is on! Loveland Ski Area or Arapahoe Basin will most likely be the first resort to offer skiing and riding for the 2014 – 2015 winter ski season. The Colorado resorts got some help from mother nature over the weekend when the region received some early season snowfall. Here is a look at where things stand.

“It was a great night. The snowmakers were very successful. We have lots and lots of snow. I walked High Noon early this morning and there was good coverage from top to bottom. The stick guns we have been experimenting with are doing well. It just warmed up enough that we have to shut down for a few hours, but tonight is expected to be cold again. It certainly felt like winter walking around out there.” – Al Ski Blog: A-basin
