Whistles were blowing, excitement was in the air, and skiers and riders were hooting and hollering at the grand opening of the new Gad 2 lift at Snowbird. Today (12-12-13) Bob Bonar, the president of Snowbird, thanked the Forest Service, Doppelmayr, the construction crew, and the many loyal guests of Snowbird for the successful completion of the lift in time for the 2013-2014 season.

When riding the new Gad 2 quad chair guests will notice the lift ride time has been cut in half. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the exit ramp which makes unloading a bit more mellow than the previous two-seater Gad 2 Chair. The new chair seat pads feel is considerably nicer than the old lawn chair type plastic seat too:)

For those skiers who got there for the 11 am opening creamy soft snow was the reward. However, there are still many rocks and stumps to be found off trail as early season snow pack still persists. Most riders didn’t seem to mind and the riding was actually really nice overall.

Today was a rocking fun day with good conditions for only a 36 inch base at the Bird. The groomers are fast, fun, and smooth so get out there. Check out the new lift and don’t forget to pray for snow and do a dance.
