An avalanche in Las Leñas, Argentina has taken the life of 24-year-old Spanish freeskier Jordi Tenas near the popular ski zone Torrecillas. Jordi’s companion, 30-year-old photographer Txema Trull, survived the avalanche after being buried for 15 hours.

El Sol is reporting that friends of the Spaniards notified rescuers when the two did not return on Friday. Upon arriving the rescuers discovered evidence of a large avalanche and began to search the debris with a rescue dog. The team found Jordi’s body outside the tent, lifeless. Trull was found still alive buried within his tent.

Trull was transported to a hospital in San Rafael where he is in stable condition.
