Reports are coming in of a British climber who survived a large Avalanche on Mont Blanc by “swimming” out of it. According to his climbing mates the man was swept from the mountain on his descent but managed to “swim” along it and walk out the other side.

Police chief Delfino Viglione, based in the Italian city of Aosta, said: “He managed to swim for 700m and walked away in one piece”.
