This morning was a wonderful time to be in the mountains. There were still some lingering snow showers from the storm that rolled through last night depositing 4-8″ of medium density snow.

I must say that the skiing this morning was fun. However, don’t get too down on yourself it you missed out. Yes the skiing was fun, but it was not “Oh My God, Today was the Tits!” kinda fun. The massive moguls that were formed over the holidays were still lying just below the surface making for a lot of, good turn – good turn – BAM (mogul) – good turn – BAM (mogul) – good turn – good turn. Powder skis helped you stay on top of some of it but certainly not all of it.

This is a shot of KT at 9am. You can plainly see the mogul fields still peppering much of the terrain.

The best skiing today was where Squaw has been grooming. These runs, with a flat bottom and 6″ of fresh on top, were skiing great. The best run of the day was coming down the gut of Granite where the snow was the deepest and the bottom was nice and flat.
