This clip left me clapping and cheering out loud while sitting in my house by myself last night.
This old man is nearly “unresponsive & unalive” before he listens to this music. He’s been in a nursing home for 10+ years and has likely been in the state he’s in for a lot of that time.
Music from his era that he enjoys is put on his head. His reaction is instantaneous. He perks up, rocks, opens his eyes wide, sings, and smiles.
The effect of the music lasts even after the music is taken away. After the music is taken away, the old man is able to answer questions and articulate thoughts and emotions.
My mom always told me: “Music is good for you.” I never doubted that and now I feel like it’s been proven.
