Once upon a time, the fabled KT-22 storm day was a day of absolute bliss. High winds & relentless snow would leave Squaw Valley virtually shut down. Except for the mystical KT-22. No one knew how, but she would ever so bravely remain open giving the very few skiers & riders in Squaw Valley access to 500+ acres of terrain and countless fairy tale experiences. No lift lines, no crowds, miserable lift rides, incredible skiing, the freshest powder money could buy, and free refills of it.
That all changed in 2010/11 when KSL took control of Squaw Valley.
KSL sold a wrathful deluge of season passes which resulted in the dreamy KT-22 storm day becoming a loathsome nightmare. Huge crowds, hour long lift lines, sour faces, and permanently tracked-out-ness prevailed.
This year, KSL has sold even more passes than last and is allowing the gremlins of Alpine Meadows access to Squaw as well.
Alpine Meadows all but shuts down on storm days leaving it’s patrons to twiddle their thumbs. But now, they have access to the legendary KT-22 storm day.
So, what will happen? Ah, that (pause) is why you are here, isn’t it? Well I ask you sir or madam:
