It’s not everyday that you’re encouraged to dress up, drink beer, yodel, and throw sausages. Take advantage of those days when they come around. The Bavarian hoards will be toasting life from 2:00 until..ehemm, 6:00 pm this Saturday for the 10th annual Squaw Valley Oktoberfest!
There is no entry fee but for $10 you’ll get a 1/2 liter commemorative stein and your first beer. After that they’ll refill your mug for $5 a glass. Proceeds from the event benefit the Tahoe Truckee Lacrosse Association. Several brewers will have beers on tap for the event. Franziskaner and Spaten out of Munich, and from The States, Sam Adams, Gordon Biersch, Victory, and Sudwerk will all be there pouring beer.
Live music and dance in the village will include performances by Joe Smiell & His 20 Piece Bavarian Band as well as traditional folk dancing by both the Almenrausch and Alpentazer Schuhplattler Folk Dancers and Dance Troop.
This years festival will again be hosting the Squaw Valley Oktobergames!

There will also be an Oktoberfest trail run. 7.88 miles, from Commons Beach to Squaw Valley all before the beer drinking commences. Registration for the event appears to be full but if you want to look into it, check out the Squaw site or the Big Blue Adventure events site.
