La Tapatia Taqueria, aka Telluride’s taco cart, is hands down one of my favorite places for cheap, fresh and most importantly DELICIOUS food in town. Located in an old cart in Spruce Street Park between Fly Me To The Moon and the hardware store, La Tapatia serves up some of the most authentic Mexican food in Telluride.

They have a pretty complete menu ranging from their amazing Tacos, Burritos and Quesadillas to Tamales, Enchiladas, Tortas sandwiches, and even breakfast burritos. Fillings for these include the standard beef, chicken, or pork as well as shrimp, fish and “exotic” meats like tripe and tongue! My favorite though is the Al Pastor, which is a chile-marinated, rotisserie pork that is super tender and flavorful. I usually get the tacos, which I like because of their small size and simplicity. Just cabbage, cilantro, a filling of your choice and AWESOME hot sauce! Get two or three of these in different flavors and you are set. Tacos range from $2.50 – $2.75 a pop, which is up from last summer, but is still an amazing deal, especially in Telluride.

Above all, the guys running the show are friendly, quick, and really know what they are doing! La Tapatia Taqueria opens at 10am, 7 days a week during the warmer months and accept CASH ONLY. Stop by the taco cart next time you are looking for a tasty lunch in Telluride, buen provecho!
