Say Good-Bye to Granite Chief for the Season | Squaw Spring Operations

granite chief squaw valley

Attention:  This article was written by Miles Clark and it expresses his opinions on how Squaw should operate this Spring .  He is clearly a KT hater and for some reason loves Granite.  He’s a douche.

Squaw Valley USA just announced their Spring Operations Schedule. But, it doesn’t make any sense.  No Granite Chief?  Seriously, no Granite?  Granite is the only thing high enough to even freeze in the springtime.  This spring operations format seems a bit whacky.  Keeping KT open until the end is cool, but consider the forecast for next week with highs in the 70s and lows in the 30s.  KT isn’t even going to freeze at night and it’ll be schmoo by about 8:15am and the lifts don’t open until 9am.

Taking Granite away seems like a bad call. Check out the schedule below.  Granite, Squaw’s highest elevation lift (read here:  ideal for springtime) is already done for the year starting today.  I’ve skied 16” of pow on Granite on May 22nd before.  Last year we skied a foot of new snow on Memorial Day.  C’mon Squaw, we love the Chief in springtime!

I think we should appeal to get Granite opened.  I think we could trade Siberia for it.  Hell, I’d trade KT for it.  What to you think?  Do you guys want KT until the end?  Or do you think it’s gonna be mashed potatoes by 8am like I do?

Here’s the breakdown:
