In the heart of Red Sox Nation are the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The crown jewel of the mountain range is Mt. Washington standing at 6,288ft. Mt. Washington is no joke recording the worlds second-highest surface wind speed on April 12, 1934. The wind on that day was officially recorded at 231 mph. Carved into this windswept mountain is some of the east coast’s most extreme terrain. Tuckerman Ravine’s Headwall is one of the few places east of the Mississippi that have active avalanche paths.
