A Day tour around the Joffre Lakes

unofficial networks, unofficial whistler, joffre lakes, jofree lakes provincial park, ski, powder, touring, day trip

The snow in-bounds Whistler Blackcomb has been skied off, it always is the day after. Did I mention that I am spoiled and I want fresh snow. Maybe this is what drug addicts feel like when they keep coming back for more, but skiing shrelped snow sucks. I want to make my own tracks. Me. Me. Me.

With this being the case I drove 40k north of Whistler, picked up photographer Andrew Strain and we went for a day tour around the Joffre Lakes. If you have never been to Joffre Lakes Provincial Park I highly suggest you visit. The area is absolutely beautiful as steep rugged peaks and glaciers  rise out of the alpine glacier lakes. Our day consisted of exploration as we tried to navigate to this cool looking chute, but Andrew and I backed out due to a hanging snow field that we decided not to cross.  The rest of the day brought flat light and fun pillow-land skiing.
