Northern California is getting another blast of winter this week as several storm systems are forecasted to impact the Sierra. Snowfall totals could reach as high as 100 INCHES of snow over the next week.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Sierra from Yosemite to Kings Canyon. The warning will be effective from 1 pm Tuesday to 11 pm Wednesday.

Winter weather returns this week with the first storm expected to affect the region Tuesday and Wednesday with periods of heavy snow and gusty winds. A foot or more of snow accumulation is expected above 4000 feet with 2 to 3 feet possible along the crest and through the passes. Impacts to travel will likely be severe with travel delays likely and possible road closures. Plan travel accordingly.

Additional storms will impact the region later in the week with more heavy snowfall likely. – NOAA

The heaviest snowfall is expected for Tuesday and Thursday. The storms will not be as cold or strong as the past storm cycle but still a powerful system that will bring large snowfalls.
