Stunning Photos Show How Mountain Lion Fell Through The Ice While Stalking Deer

An eerie underwater scene at Blue Mesa | All Photos: Mesa Lakes Lodge Facebook Page

Winter is a time of survival for members of the animal kingdom. Freezing temps, lack of nutrition, and shortened days make the winter months the most brutal for wildlife and these photos from Blue Mesa prove that point.

“Mother Nature doesn’t pick favorites! She is harsh sometimes and doesn’t give out many second chances!”Mesa Lakes Lodge

Pictured underwater are a mountain lion and a female Mule Deer. The cat was likely stalking the mule deer onto the frozen lake when the ice broke beneath both creatures– leaving behind a picture of nature’s unadulterated brutality. Makes lodge life look extra kushy now doesn’t it?
