According to New Hampshire Fish and Game, Loudon Fruth of Huntsville, UT and Michael Nocek of Greenwich, CT  were hoping to ski Ammonoosuc Ravine but nightfall spoiled their adventure mid-ski. Fish and Game officials said that the skiers were not properly prepared for winter backcountry travel.

That fact was further exacerbated by their lack of light. Between the two, they had only one light, which failed to work. Luckily, search and rescue personnel were able to locate the pair and guide them to safety. The following incident is a perfect example of why planning with proper gear is a prerequisite to successful early season skiing. #KBYG
