The 150 year-old resort located in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire needs extensive redevelopment efforts to offer competitive amenities and ski facilities. A developed gondola plaza, expanded terrain, as well as spa are just a few of the planned developments. The terrain being considered lies just behind the current ski area. Otten told WMUR.com that the terrain in question is“some of the most phenomenal ski terrain in the northeast.”

“This spectacular terrain inspires a vast and diverse ski area that will be the centerpiece for what will be one of the finest four season resorts ever constructed.” Les Otten

The ski area last operated in 2011 but with the new ski area tycoon and Sunday River owner Les Otten at the helm, the current prospects are promising. As of now, Otten is hoping to garner $143 million in phase 1 investments along with a $28 million dollar bank loan to begin work on the project. According to the Balsams Resort website, the resort boasts “a true alpine climate zone” along with “more dependable snow and a longer winter season year in and year out.”
