While Vail Resorts keeps talking about expanding their “global footprint,” many skiers would be surprised that Vail Resorts is not the world’s largest ski resort operator. In fact, Vail’s 12 ski resorts are pale in comparison to one competitor– Â Compagnie des Alpes.
Including capital shares, the Compagnie des Alpes has three more resorts than Vail and its amount of skiable terrain makes Vail’s offerings look busch league. Among their more notable offerings, Compagnie des Alpes’ ski areas include industry giants such as Chamonix, Val d’Isere, and Paradiski.
The resort operator also runs the largest ski area in the world– Les Trois Vallees.
