The southern hemisphere is off to a strong start as New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, and Chile are all open for snow business. And unless you’ve been living under a rock the last two weeks, the obvious winners are Portillo, Ski La Parva, and Valle Nevado in Chile.

That said, after New Zealand’s Mt Hutt just bounced back from warming temperatures with a large snowstorm that gave the southern island ski area its first powder day of the season.

In other news, Argentinian resorts are struggling to open after rain battered the ski slopes in recent days. Las Leñas as well as Cerro Catedral just pushed back their opening days. Los Penitentes on the other hand remains open with a 47″ base.
