Tragic news is coming out of Whistler after a skier found the body of a female skier near the West Ridge area of Whistler Mountain on Wednesday afternoon reports CBC News.

According to the report, the woman had been skiing alone on the West Ridge trail when she apparently fell off a 80+ foot cliff and sustained life ending injuries.

Whistler Blackcomb ski patrol and medical personnel responded to the situation but attempts to revive the woman proved unsuccessful. Her identity has yet to be released. The fatality is the second inbounds death at Whistler Blackcomb this season.

*Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s friends and family
