According to a report by 660 News, a group of seven snowmobilers were riding nearly 200km north of Blue River, British Columbia when an avalanche struck their party.
That avalanche has claimed the lives of two snowmobilers.
At the time of the incident, two left for help while the other three began searching for their partners. According to Search and Rescue professional Alan Hobler, “There’s a lodge up there that provides backcountry guides and I believe one of their guides went to the location as well and probably located them.”
Nearby areas are currently posting considerable avalanche danger in the alpine. Conservative route finding and in-depth snowpack analysis is necessary when traveling in the backcountry today through Thursday.
