Mountain High 2

Mountain High was riding high earlier this season but since the “February to Forget” brought summer-like temps and no snow, the southern California resort is closing its doors temporarily. However, with new snow in the forecast (Miracle March?) the resort is planning on reopening its lifts by March 12th.

So far resort officials are expressing optimism in the forecast with general manager, Ben Smith saying, “This forecast is the best we’ve seen in several years.” To which he added, “Winter looks to be returning to Southern California”

Later next week, temperatures are forecasted to drop and lower mountain precipitation should (hopefully) allow Mountain High to reopen its lifts for season pass holders and day skiers alike.

Mountain High Officials Had This To Say In A Recent Statement:

“We are going to remain closed today due to the warm weather but expect to reopen in a week or so with new snow.  Remember, a stormy March is somewhat typical of El Ninos and the long-range weather forecast shows a change towards a more active pattern.  Opensnow.com predicts new snow to hit Southern California around March 10th or 11th so keep your fingers crossed.   Looking at the map, the current ridge of high pressure is being replaced by troughing and storminess shown by blue colors.”
