The ski resort with the highest base elevation in Tahoe is up for sale!
Since buying a majority share of Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe in 1971, Fritz Buser is hoping to sell the Nevada resort after this year’s El Niño has brought surplus amounts of snow to the mountain’s flanks. This year’s deep snow is proving the resort’s viability as a top notch ski area capable of delivering amazing conditions, terrain, and amenities to its skiers and riders. Those factors combined with the market climate are creating ideal conditions to put the ski resort on the market reports The Reno Gazette-Journal.
“From a business perspective, the timing is right with the 2014-15 season proving highly successful despite enduring the leanest snow season in the history of the mountain. In addition, the 2015-16 winter is currently on track to be one of the strongest in the last 10 years and prove exactly what the resort is capable of achieving in a typical or above average snow year.”- Statement from Mt. In addition to the millions invested in resort improvements since Fritz took a majority share in Mt. Rose, prior zoning indicates that commercial expansion near highway 431 is a future possibility to which marketing director Mike Pierce added, “There is ability to develop real estate on that side.”
During the sale process, operations will continue as normal. In the end, the 95 years young, Fritz Buser decided now was as good a time as any to shelve the skis for good and settle into the twilight years of life.
