This afternoon, Heavenly and Northstar Ski Resorts in Lake Tahoe revealed that they will be opening early this Saturday! The original opening dates were set for November 20th but due to all the abundant snowfall the Tahoe area has received as of late, both resorts will start mountain operations on November 14th!

Heavenly Opening Day Info
According to Heavenly resort officials, the Gondola, Tamarack Express, and Dipper Express Upper will all be running and as far as trails are concerned, upper California Trail and Orion’s will be open, which “at over a mile long, will be the longest run available in the Tahoe basin.” However, one resort official said, “snowmaking is going OFF right now,” which could mean more terrain offerings for opening day at Heavenly (weather always permitting).
Northstar Opening Day Info
Northstar will be open top-to-bottom and according to a press release from Vail Resorts. The resort will run “the Big Springs Gondola, Vista Express, Arrow Express and Comstock Express,” which will access “West Ridge, Luggi’s, Skid, Pinball, Lumberjack and Lower Main Street.” In addition to the chairs, there will be one surface lift open for ski and snowboard lessons.
