Well, it looks as though Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe jumped the snow gun. As of yesterday, the resort pulled its marquee countdown clock from their website and revealed that an opening date is now up in the air.
Last week, the Nevada ski resort, which has a base elevation of 8,260 ft, was optimistic that it could open by Thursday, October 28th but with warm temperatures sweeping the area, the resort was unable to commence snowmaking operations as planned.
In an email exchange with the Reno Gazette-Journal, Mt. Rose marketing director Mike Pierce said, “We held out hope until today as this week’s forecast looked promising, but the snow level is still just a bit too high to get us started.”
According to Pierce, the resort needs two nights of below freezing temperatures to create enough snow to open its slopes.

As of now, resort officials are hoping to open in the next few weeks.
