Onlookers despaired as an avalanche of thick snow threatened to claim the lives of ten Chamois goats near Pralognan-la-Vanoise in the Rhône-Alpes.
Six of the ten goats ran diagonally down the mountain, outrunning the snow, but for a few moments, it appeared that the other four goats had been overcome.
The French onlookers speculated on what might have happened, only to rejoice and applaud when the remaining four emerged and joined the rest of the herd.
