Olympic Gold Medalist, World Cup Champion, and overall badass Bode Miller said in an interview on Monday that he is still contemplating a return to the starting gate and the familiar beep he knows all too well.

In a recent interview with Olympic Talk, the world cup racer commented on his future with the sport both as a coach and as a racer. When asked if he was contemplating a return to racing, Miller responded, “I certainly have the speed to still do it, which is good for me and exciting.” However, Miller’s wife Morgan recently gave birth to a newborn baby son [Nash Miller] in May and although Bode is interested in getting back to racing, he stated, “my family is my top priority.”

Yet, that doesn’t mean he won’t be racing this year or even the next. In the interview, Bode admitted, “even though it sounds funny to most people, there’s a chance that I would commit to a season after this coming season and race.”

Still, Miller says he is interested in filling a position as a coach with the US Ski Team as well. He hinted at a coaching role saying, “I do think there’s a real responsibility to share some of my knowledge,” adding that the US Ski Team should incorporate himself, Lindsey Vonn, and Ted Ligety into the process so that future racers can “transition onto the world stage and be successful.”

Whatever the case may be for the upcoming race season, Miller will remain involved in ski racing in one way or another. “It’s just too dangerous to not be 100 percent committed,” says Miller when talking about racing at the World Cup level. Now we have to wait and see if Bode commits 100% to this season or the next.
